Perimenopausal Glow-Up: Solutions to Support thinning, sagging skin.

Good Morning! I'm starting a series to educate women on the changes that occur during perimenopause and the elements needed to support our beautiful skin in the best way possible during this skin transitional period. In this blog, we will discuss volume changes that occur during perimenopause and how to support our skin during this time.

During perimenopause, our hormones fluctuate. Our Estrogen level begins to decline. Estrogen is a vital component needed for collagen production. Collagen is necessary for our skin to keep it firm, help ensure its volume, and maintain its elasticity. When we understand this, it makes sense why as our Estrogen levels decline, our skin becomes thinner and more sagging occurs. This reduction in Estrogen also impacts skin moisture leaving it more dry with skin barrier weakness and sensitivity!

Is there anything we can do to help support our skin during this transition? The answer is yes! There are many things we can do to support our skin during this time. One important way to support our skin is to improve skin moisture! Making sure we are drinking plenty of water helps this process from the inside. From the outside, using a moisturizing gentle creamy cleanser is paramount. This cleansing method will prevent stripping the skin of its moisture and support the weakened skin barrier.

When it comes to skin care ingredients that reduce thinning and sagging look for ingredients that boost collagen production. Some key ingredients that can boost collagen production topically include peptides, Hyaluronic acid, Vitamin C, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), Aloe Vera gel, Niacinamide, and Retinoids. Now you understand why these are key ingredients in many skin care products on the market today!

At BATCH Modern Skin Science, we strive to support skin during perimenopause. Our products are designed to help protect and support the skin during this phase. I use these products because I know they work for me. I created the brand because I love great skin care products that make a visible difference. I also love educating others to help them better understand WHY their skin is changing and what helps. This knowledge helps us make more informed decisions regarding skin care product choices that are best for each of our individual skin needs. Until next blog, All the best!
